Candler Park monthly meeting this Monday, July 19 at 7 pm

Jul 16 2010

Hey CPers. Please join us this Monday, July 19 at 7:00 p.m. at the First Existentialist Church, 470 Candler Park Drive NE, for our monthly meeting. Everyone is welcome (so long as you live in Candler Park) and it's free. Show up at 6:30 pm for social time. Decent odds there will be some beverages and light snacks there, if history is any indication. It's fun to see the usual suspects but we'd love to see some new faces too...

Hello? Is anybody out there?

Jul 16 2010

Hellooooo CP neighbors! Are you out there? You must be since Google Analytics insists that 100+ of you are visiting this site every day. However, the comments on this site are eerily quiet...

Maybe there's a very talented Candler Park cat who has all your tongues. Either that or y'all are just shy. But don't be! We need your help making this site better, more interesting, more chatty, so pretty please start using the comments. If the posts aren't inspiring conversation, then hey, send us a post! We're happy to have any content submissions -- announcements, editorials, you-name-it, and will happily publish them.

Bottom line, it's getting a little lonely here and some company would be most welcome. :)

Booths are $150 and you need to provide your own tent. Space is limited, so if interested, please hurry along and contact Cherie King at 404-786-2407.

Rain Barrel Workshop in Lake Claire on July 31

Jul 14 2010

Submitted by Genise Spenle: The Lake Claire Community Land Trust and The Department of Watershed Management will co-host a 'Learn To Make Your Own Rain Barrel' workshop. This will be held at the Lake Claire Community Land Trust, at the gazebo, on Saturday, July 31, 2010, from 11 am to 1 pm. Participants will receive all necessary materials to assemble and paint their rain barrels, which they can take home or donate for use on the Land Trust. Donation of the barrel to the Land Trust is a tax deductible contribution and an acknowledgement letter will be supplied.

There are several subsidized free slots in the workshop available for individuals wishing to participate and willing for the resulting barrel to remain on the Land Trust. The cost is $45, of which $40 will be donated to the City’s Care & Conserve Program, to fund plumbing retrofits and bill payment assistance. The remaining $5 will retrofit Land Trust structures for the rain barrel usage.

To register, contact Genise Spenle.
