The people of Candler Park have spoken! The polls are closed and the winner of the September 8 viewer’s choice movie is Back To The Future! Some of you may be thinking, who has not seenthis movie? But have you seen Back to the Future’s digitally re-mastered HighDefinition twenty-fifth anniversary version on BluRay on a three story screenunder the stars in Candler Park’s natural amphitheater??? I don’t think so.
Before the movie starts on September 8, there will beawesome pre-movie activities starting at 6:30 pm, put on by our friends at theMary Lin PTA! They’ll be helping us get in the groove of the movie’s era withswingin’ 50s music, a hula hoop contest, limbo, a “Back”wards (get it?) runningcontest, and a bunch of great prizes. Kids– wear your poodle skirt, rockabilly clothes, bowling shirts or whateversignals “I’m back from the 50s” – best outfit wins a prize!
Also on September 22, we will be showing Dolphin Tale. The film is inspired by the true story of Winter, a bottlenose dolphinthat was rescued off the coast of Florida after losing part of his tail after becomingentangled with a rope attached to a crab trap and was fitted with a prostheticone. We are excited to have joining us for our pre movie festivitieswill be long time neighbor Don Bender. He and the DOLPHIN PROJECT have developed apower point program featuring photography, graphics, sounds and videos toeducate the public about the wild estuarine Bottlenose dolphins. The programfocuses on dolphin anatomy, habits, behaviors, threats and research. Theproduction also includes information about the environment which humans anddolphins share and how we can help protect it. www.thedolphinproject.org
