Healthcare forum hosted by Congressman John Lewis on Monday, July 27

Jul 24 2009

From the Office of Congressman John Lewis: On July 16, my colleagues and I on the House Ways & Means Committee marked up and passed major health care legislation that will help millions of Americans receive better, more affordable health care. In the coming weeks other committees both in the House and Senate will debate and hopefully pass similar legislation to develop a uniquely American health care system.

This bill is not perfect, it is a down payment, and I am committed to working to make it better. Before it reaches the House floor and ultimately the President's desk, I want to make sure everyone in Georgia's Fifth Congressional District has a chance to make their voice heard. I will be hosting a forum on July 27, at 9 am at Ebenezer Baptist Church. This forum is an opportunity for residents of the Fifth District to receive the latest information on the progress in Washington and to make your views heard on how we can make our healthcare system work for everyone.
