New Oakdale Road historical marker

Nov 16 2013

Edith Kelman, founder of Candler Park’s BiRacial History Project, worked with a small crew of volunteers to install a new historical marker at 420 Oakdale Road on Saturday Nov. 9. The site was where the Antioch East Baptist Church was first located, from 1877-1916. Planning for the marker began three years ago and it is the fourth historical marker placed in the neighborhood stemming from Kelman’s research into the neighborhood’s rich history.

Read more about the Early Edgewood-Candler Park BiRacial History Project at its website <http://www.biracialhistoryproject.org/> and look for more details about the marker in the December Messenger.

Thank you!

Edith: You're awesome. Everyone knows this.
And thanks to Don Bender and Kelly Jordan for helping to make this possible.
