Just a reminder that the City of Atlanta's parking moratorium officially ends at 11:59 PM tonight. Please pay attention to all signage around the recently installed parking meters to ensure you don't receive a ticket. The moratorium occurred because residents and business leaders were concerned about the new parking meters, the 24/7 parking policy and challenges with awareness of the new program. A working group was formed with City Council to better understand the concerns and needs of the community, and multiple short-term recommendations have come out of these groups. Some of these include:
-
Changing enforcement hours from 24/7 to 7:00 am – 7:00 pm Monday through Friday, and 12:00 PM – 10:00 PM on Saturdays. No enforcement will occur on Sundays.
-
Providing additional educational materials to NPUs
-
Reconciling enforcement discrepancies between meters and signage.
Long-term recommendations about parking needs and policy in our neighborhoods are still being discussed among members of these working groups and City Council.
