When and Where Do I Vote?
Polls will be open on Tuesday, July 31st from 7 am to 7 pm. If you're unsure of your voting precinct location, go here to look it up. To vote in the July 31 election, you had to have been registered to vote by July 2.
What is T-SPLOST?
On the ballot is a referendum that asks Georgia residents to vote on a 1% sales tax to invest in transportation improvements in Georgia's twelve economic development regions.
Each region's election will be separate from the other regions, and each region's citizens will determine the fate of a new ten-year Transportation Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax (T-SPLOST) on all sales in that region. The T-SPLOST referendum was authorized by the Transportation Investment Act (TIA) of 2010.
Candler Park is in Region 3 (the Atlanta Regional Commission), which includes the ten-county Atlanta metro area and the City of Atlanta. In our region, $8.5 billion would be generated over the ten year period. If passed, the majority of the money would be used for regional projects, and 15% of the funds would be distributed to counties and municipalities as discretionary funds.
Project lists:
- For our region: The Final Investment List for our region can be found here.
- For our city: The City of Atlanta has developed a list of projects to be funded, as seen here.
- For our part of town: Go here to see the the discretionary revenue project list for the Neighborhood Planning Unit N (NPU-N).
